A Chicago Photography tour in August

I just finished a tour today with a lovely Mother and daughter who were  interested in Photography.  At one point I had to change lens with the daughter and give her a wide angle lens. Yes, fall is coming but Summer is stillin full force this week with some hot temps and clear blue skies.  I  an incredibly funny photographer from Florida. He was in town for a convention and wanted to see the city to capture some architectural photography that he normally would not see.  And I was lucky he found me. We laughed and shot our way around the loop. At some points we were not sure which direction to shoot! There was so much city action around us.  Roger seemed to totally enjoy the fine detail work on the old buildings as well as the over all views around us.  Down the busy streets, inside the Air conditioned buildings,  we covered a lot.  I can't wait to see his images from the tour.   The Chicago Photo tours are only going to get better with Fall just around the corner

I met a great guy named Bill, from the Midwest, who wanted to get back into photography after striving to reach his goals withing his career. He contacted me about A loop tour while he was in town. As a nice bonus he wanted to surprise his co-worker with the tour since she too, liked photography. We Met at Buckingham fountain in time to see the hourly water show. and from there the tour around the loop started. Taking photos is fun, and to this day I still stand side by side with my clients shooting images. 24 years of walking around town and I still cannot get enough of it.

 Photography is so subjective and shooting architecture adds a whole other level of personal taste. From the beginning, I try to encourage my visitors to feel free to walk away, find an angle that they like.I cannot tell them what the best picture location will be all I can do is start them off at the best spot I know of from experience. Between locations, I enjoy sharing with and getting to know my guests. My goal is to show a side of the city they may not normally see. I want to inform them of the history, and highlights found within our city but a nice byproduct of all of this is I too get to learn from them. What a great combination. Here are some early photos from this past Sunday's tour.

Winter is upon us!

You know I love showing Chicago off the the visitors. Well, this is one week where the best activities are the indoor ones, Hopefully by a fireplace with loved ones. We are on the first day of a cold snap and looks like we are getting some snow tomorrow. some are saying it might be over 6 inches of powder. Chances are I will go out and see what I can photograph, but once I am done, you know where to find me, by my fireplace with my beautiful wife. Hope to see you when it warms up!
