Chicago Spring 2014 tours

If you follow the weather reports in Chicago, you get the feeling that we are going to skip summer this year and have the longest winter on record. I know it does not seem like it, but sometime in the coming months we will see some sun some grass and actually feel it is safe to go back outside.  Even in the cold months this city produces some amazing images to capture.  I guess  I have to consider those photos "practice" practice for when all the visitors come flooding back into this great city.

Fall colors in Chicago

The best time to photograph Chicago is when you are here. There is never a bad time to shoot Chi-town, as they call it.  You can always find something beautiful to photograph in your travels around town.  Today, for example, the leaves have not yet turned yet you can walk away with images similar to this one taken on today's tour.

Notice the clear blue skies, nature tucked amongst the steel and glass of  the man made city.  This is a keeper in anyone's book, I would think.  Imagine if you are coming in the next few weeks what is in store for you.  To me, any time you visit and take a tour with me, your photography will be memorable.

Chicago fall activities

There are many ways to spend you time while in Chicago.  Your time if valuable and how you spend it can really have an effect on your perception that you take home about the great city of Chicago.  My goal is to make sure you use your time wisely, experience the city in a way you would not normally do and most of all get the biggest return for your investment.  Chicago offers many tours but very few have the passion for the city and the combined expertise if Professional Photography AND Tour guide. Keep that in mind when you choose a tour.  The leaves are starting to change, if you have not been to Chicago in a while it just might be time to visit us.  Here are some more photos from my latest tour.

Fall events in Chicago

Fall is coming!
This week is a perfect example of Chicago weather.  it was in the 90's at the beginning,  76 degrees at night even and we should end the work week with a  high of 35 degrees less than we started, 60 degrees for a High!   How do you plan for that?  Join me on a photo tour during the month of September and I will show you how Chicago looks as fall sets in. The boaters start to leave, the Canadian Geese start to arrive. it is like nature at its best!  :)

A Chicago Photography tour in August

I just finished a tour today with a lovely Mother and daughter who were  interested in Photography.  At one point I had to change lens with the daughter and give her a wide angle lens. We were capturing photos like this along the way.  Please don't forget to contact me if you are planning on visiting Chicago.

Yes, fall is coming but Summer is stillin full force this week with some hot temps and clear blue skies.  I  an incredibly funny photographer from Florida. He was in town for a convention and wanted to see the city to capture some architectural photography that he normally would not see.  And I was lucky he found me. We laughed and shot our way around the loop. At some points we were not sure which direction to shoot! There was so much city action around us.  Roger seemed to totally enjoy the fine detail work on the old buildings as well as the over all views around us.  Down the busy streets, inside the Air conditioned buildings,  we covered a lot.  I can't wait to see his images from the tour.   The Chicago Photo tours are only going to get better with Fall just around the corner

I met a great guy named Bill, from the Midwest, who wanted to get back into photography after striving to reach his goals withing his career. He contacted me about A loop tour while he was in town. As a nice bonus he wanted to surprise his co-worker with the tour since she too, liked photography. We Met at Buckingham fountain in time to see the hourly water show. and from there the tour around the loop started. Taking photos is fun, and to this day I still stand side by side with my clients shooting images. 24 years of walking around town and I still cannot get enough of it.

 Photography is so subjective and shooting architecture adds a whole other level of personal taste. From the beginning, I try to encourage my visitors to feel free to walk away, find an angle that they like.I cannot tell them what the best picture location will be all I can do is start them off at the best spot I know of from experience. Between locations, I enjoy sharing with and getting to know my guests. My goal is to show a side of the city they may not normally see. I want to inform them of the history, and highlights found within our city but a nice byproduct of all of this is I too get to learn from them. What a great combination. Here are some early photos from this past Sunday's tour.

Chicago Union Station

Chicago Union Station - I Heart Chicago" photo sessions

This is one of the better photos from Chicago's Union station.  A beautiful structure, yet the city seems to not treat it like NYC's  Union Station.   That said, it is still a site to see.  Contact me and I will gladly show you around our town and  this can be one of the stops.

I have to admit, that sometimes even the locals forget how beautiful the City of Chicago is in spring!  Visitors come from all over the world to see this majestic city in all of its glory.  Most people forget that we have an urban lifestyle, with a beach, wildlife and world re noun architecture all blocks from each other.  Here is one days walking tour.
